Alex Turned 23 // Texas 4000.

Happy belated birthday to my amazing brother, Alex! I am so proud of him! Even though he is younger, he has always inspired me to dream big and reach for the stars. Alex is the type of person that sets high goals for himself and doesn't stop until they are achieved. He is partially responsible for inspiring my quest to better my life and create a bucket list.

One of his goals and soon to be achievements is participating in University of Texas at Austin's Texas 4000 program. He will be biking from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska in order to raise money for cancer research. Every year, University of Texas at Austin selects students to participate in the 18-month program to encourage the next generation in taking a lead for the fight against cancer. Texas 4000 empowers the students to raise $4500, ride 1500 training miles with their team, volunteer over 50 hours in their community, and play an active role in planning their ride to Alaska by attending weekly meetings and taking on leadership roles within the team. The program has an intense curriculum that includes grassroots fundraising, volunteerism, media training, team building, the basics of nonprofit, and more. Participants are also put through physical training ahead of time, including group workouts, skills and mechanical clinics, training camps, and weekly rides. As a birthday gift for Alex and to help him kick cancer's butt, I encourage you to learn more about his journey, send him some encouraging words, and/or donate to the cause. You can visit his website here. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family as well!
