Road Trip: Part 2!


The first day we were there was spent exploring the little town of Terlingua. It is the home of the Chisos Mining Company that was established in 1903. The company specialized in quicksilver mercury mining until about 1943, when they were forced to file for bankruptcy. Along with the company went many of Terlingua's residents, leaving it as a ghost town. There were decaying buildings, abandoned mine shafts, and a creepy cemetery with both recently and long term departed. "Terlingua Proper" now has a population of several dozen, including those in the Ghost Town plus a few neighbors. Here are some photos from our explorations of Terlingua Ghost Town!
