My Experience in Kenya.

The recent tragedy that took place in Nairobi, Kenya has really gotten me thinking. It seems like there is always something terrible happening in this little world of ours. It is so sad to turn on the news and hear so many negative things that people are doing to each other. Shootings, kidnappings, murders, hate crimes. How can humans do this to one another? We should be lifting each other up, not knocking each other down! This life can already be hard enough, we shouldn't be making it harder for one another. We should focus on making this world a better place for the people living in it now and the people that will be here after us.

This life is beautiful, short, and very special. Hug the ones you love and make sure they know how much they are appreciated! I am so thankful that there are people willing to put their lives on the line for others in these awful situations; that are willing to help our loved ones. When you see someone in need, don't be afraid to lend them a helping hand. You never know how much of a difference it could make in their life. Last week someone at work shared this saying from her father, "Smile and be nice to everyone, because you never know if you have been the only one nice to them that day." This couldn't be more true.

I would like to share something personal and more positive from my own experience in Kenya. In the summer of 2010, my family and I had the amazing opportunity to visit Kenya for about a month. While we witnessed some very sad things, it was also easily one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I hope to one day be able to go back and help the people in need there. Here are some of the pictures from our trip.

More pictures to be continued in upcoming posts.
